Caribbean Public Health Day 2023

On July 2nd this year, CARPHA observes its 10-year anniversary.

CARPHA became the new single regional public health agency for the Caribbean when it was legally established in July 2011. However, the Agency began its operations in January 2013, after an Intergovernmental Agreement was signed by the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) Member States.

Caribbean Public Health Day celebrated on July 2nd every year, coincides with the anniversary of the legal establishment of CARPHA. This special day was established to increase awareness of the field of Public Health and to highlight how CARPHA’s work affects the everyday lives of Caribbean people.

“We were established to lead and be the guardian in the field of public health for the Caribbean Region. Having come a long way in a relatively should time, we have much to celebrate. For Caribbean Public Health Day, we want to take this time to reflect on our achievements and value in public health and health security, for the public health good of all Caribbean people,” stated CARPHA’s Executive Director, Dr. Joy St. John.
